Ingredient Breakdown
According to the Steel Supplements website, here’s what the ingredients do to our bodies:
Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that your body needs for several functions. It’s significant to protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism and the creation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters. Your body cannot produce vitamin B6, so you must obtain it from foods or supplements. Consuming adequate vitamin B6 is essential for optimal health and may even prevent and treat chronic diseases.
Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is an essential vitamin that your body needs but cannot produce. It’s found naturally in animal products but also added to certain foods and available as an oral supplement or injection. Vitamin B12 has many roles in your body. It supports the normal function of your nerve cells and is needed for red blood cell formation and DNA synthesis. Vitamin B12 may benefit your body in unique ways, such as boosting energy, improving memory, and helping prevent heart disease.
L-Citrulline: L-Citrulline is an amino acid turned into L-arginine in the kidneys after supplementation. L-citrulline supplementation is a more effective method of increasing L-arginine levels in the body than L-arginine supplementation. Taking L-Citrulline increases plasma levels of ornithine and arginine, improving the ammonia recycling process and nitric oxide metabolism. Consequently, it is used in areas where nitric oxide is relevant, namely erectile dysfunction caused by high blood pressure, athletic performance, and cardiovascular health. There are very few foods that have notable amounts of citrulline.
Beta-Alanine: Beta-alanine is a non-essential amino acid, and unlike most amino acids, it is not used by your body to synthesize proteins. Instead, together with histidine, it produces carnosine. Carnosine is then stored in your skeletal muscles and reduces lactic acid accumulation in your muscles during exercise, which leads to improved athletic performance. In your muscles, histidine levels are generally high and beta-alanine levels low, limiting carnosine production. Supplementing with beta-alanine has been shown to elevate carnosine levels in muscles by 80%. Since beta-alanine supplements increase carnosine levels, they help reduce acid levels in your muscles during exercise, which lessens overall fatigue.
Betaine Anhydrous: Betaine anhydrous is a chemical that occurs naturally in the body and can also be found in foods such as beets, spinach, cereals, seafood, and wine. A form of betaine called betaine anhydrous helps in the metabolism of homocysteine, a chemical involved in the normal function of many different parts of the body, including blood, bones, eyes, heart, nerves, and the brain. Betaine anhydrous prevents the buildup of homocysteine seen in people with problems with its metabolism from birth. Homocysteine is involved in the normal function of many different parts of the body, including blood, bones, eyes, heart, muscles, nerves, and the brain. Betaine anhydrous prevents the buildup of homocysteine in the blood.
N-Acetyl L Tyrosine: Tyrosine is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the body from another amino acid called phenylalanine. Tyrosine is a popular dietary supplement used to improve alertness, attention, and focus. It has essential brain chemicals that help nerve cells communicate and may even regulate mood. It is also found in chicken, turkey, fish, dairy products, and most other high-protein foods.
Caffeine anhydrous: Caffeine increases focus and mental stimulation. One of the main mechanisms is by increasing adrenaline. Adrenaline is a powerful stimulatory chemical, but not the only mechanism of caffeine. The primary tool that makes caffeine unique is adenosine activity (as a receptor antagonist), which essentially helps increase alertness and reduce feelings of lethargy. Some studies suggest caffeine has a positive effect on memory formation too. In addition; Caffeine and coffee have been shown to cause significant improvements in performance for endurance athletes. Caffeine may benefit trained athletes but not untrained individuals for high-intensity sports like cycling or swimming. For strength or power-based exercises, the research about the effects of caffeine is primarily positive but still mixed. Caffeine can help release stored fat from fat cells, especially before and at the end of a workout. It can also help you burn more calories.
Senegalia berlandieri extract: Senegalia Berlandieri is a shrub native to the Southwestern United States and northeast Mexico that belongs to the subfamily Mimosoideae (wattles) of Fabaceae (legumes). S. berlandieri contains several diverse alkaloids, the most plentiful of which are N-methylphenethylamine, tyramine, and phenethylamine. The alkaloids from Senegalia Berlandieri are biologically similar to those found in ephedra and possess similar properties. Senegalia alkaloids, like ephedra alkaloids, readily pass across the blood-brain barrier.
Beta Phenylethylamine (PEA): PEA is a hormone-like substance that occurs naturally in your brain and body. It functions as a neurotransmitter that gives you heightened focus, attention, goal-directed behavior, and task completion. Combined with its mood-elevating effects, PEA can bring about an increased feeling of get-up-and-go, an enhanced sense of well-being, and optimal cognitive performance. Moreover, PEA amplifies the actions of other essential brain chemicals such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and acetylcholine. As such, PEA is thought to slow down the rate at which your brain and body age, extend your health span, and increase longevity. Proper supplementation with PEA improves mental clarity, mood, stamina, energy, libido, joy, and motivation.
Hordenine: Hordenine, otherwise known as N, N-dimethyltryptamine, is an alkaloid mainly found in plants such as barley that are used for animal feed. It is adrenergic, meaning it causes nerve cells to release the neurotransmitters epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). Molecules like epinephrine and norepinephrine increase energy and focus and are part of the “fight-or-flight” response.
N methyl Tyramine, (arecoline hydrobromide 98%): N-Methyltyramine, also known as 4-hydroxy-N-methylphenethylamine, is a human trace amine and natural phenethylamine alkaloid found in a variety of plants. It is the N-methyl analog of tyramine, a well-known biogenic trace amine with which NMT shares many pharmacological properties. N-methyltyramine is a neuromodulator, so the main advantages of NMT supplementation are cognitive changes, such as enhanced motivation, increased focus, and a greater sense of urgency. Intuitively, the mental benefits of NMT translate to physical benefits as well, like better athletic performance, elevated thermogenesis (calorie expenditure), and thus, improved fat loss. NMT supplementation is unquestionably adequate for bodybuilding enthusiasts and athletes alike.
Cymbidium Goeringii Extract: Cymbidium Goeringii Extract is also known as Orchilean, and it’s an adaptogenic herb derived from the Noble orchid, a flowering plant used in traditional medicine in China, Nepal, and Northern India. Cymbidium Goeringii is a botanical tonic in its natural form that can significantly improve the body’s ability to increase energy levels and adapt to stress. Orchilean works to help the body adapt to various stressful challenges, such as those during high-intensity training or environmental stressors, including pollutants and toxins. Specifically, Orchilean stimulates and replenishes the energy of cells and bodily systems that help regulate our state of homeostasis; by doing so, we can adapt accurately to stress, increasing our physical and psychological endurance and resiliency. Orchilean also contains a biological peptide known as Cymbidine-A, a highly potent vasodilator and diuretic; it also has an antioxidant known as Gigantol that works synergistically with Cymbidine-A to induce increased nitric oxide release. In this way, Orchilean enhances performance by improving stroke volume and blood flow and increasing nitric oxide production to help deliver more oxygen and nutrients to working muscle tissue during training.
Higenamine: Higenamine is a molecule derived from a variety of fruits and plants that appears to have anti-asthmatic properties via dilating the bronchial tubes (a mechanism known as Beta(2)adrenergic agonism). This mechanism is also the same one underlying the fat-burning potential of ephedrine, and as such, Higenamine is currently being used as a fat burner. Beyond that mechanism, it may also exert anti-inflammatory effects and injections may be helpful in a clinical setting against sepsis. There is no human evidence of using Higenamine, which appears to be similarly potent to some established beta(2)adrenergic agonists in preliminary studies (regarding anti-asthmatic effects).
Huperzine A: Huperzine A (HupA) is an alkaloid extracted from the club moss (Huperzia Serrata). It has demonstrated both memory enhancement and neuroprotective effects in animal and clinical trials. Huperzine A is a potent, reversible, and specific inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholine esterase (ACHE), which breaks down acetylcholine. However, huperzine A also has other brain-supporting effects that do not involve ACHE. Huperzine A increases acetylcholine levels in rat brains for 6 hours post-administration. Huperzine A results in a more prolonged increase in acetylcholine in the whole brain than tacrine, physostigmine, and metrifonate. Huperzine A increases levels of norepinephrine and dopamine but not serotonin.
