The most obvious thing to me when deciding on a pre workout it’s of course WHAT’S IN IT. Most people have no clue what they’re looking at when they see a “formula” or a “matrix” and to be honest most look like a bunch of hyped up names.
Let’s take a look at what they’re actually putting in the KRE-EX.
Below is the nutrition label itself, which by the way at first glance doesn’t look that impressive to me:
Let’s get into each ingredient in KRE-EX and determine whether or not this formula lives up to the claim of being the BEST in all of 2017…
Buffered Creatine Fusion
The buffered creation fusion seems to look like a heavy dose of standard creatine monohydrate, followed by two other key ingredients called Betaine Anhydrous and Creatinol O-Phosphate.
Betaine Anhydrous is a natural substance found in beets that seem to have a lot of energy and endurance benefits. Creatinol O-Phosphate [1] not be be confused with actual creatine, is a mild strength booster, but nothing really special.
Other ingredients include Magnesium Phosphate, and Sodium Bicarbonate, a compound shown to neutralize lactic acid buildup and help muscles work more efficiently.
Volumizing Endurance Fusion
- Citruline Malate: a natural endurance booster shown to improve repetition count by as much as 50% in one study.
- Beta-Alanine:
- Glycerol Monosterate:
- L-Histidine:
- Pine Bark Extract:
BCAA Construction Fusion
This is basically a mixture of BCAAs. They’re great to take before and during a workout, so unless you mind taking them separately, this is important.
It contains Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine, three of the most essential amino acids you can take. At 4 grams of BCAAs per serving, this is a good amount to take right before you workout.
Maximum Focus Fusion
Most of the nootropic, cognitive enhancing ingredients like L-Tyrosine can be found here. The increased focus that the co-founder mentions is probably also talking about DMAE, which I happen to be familiar with.
It’s a decent nootropic, and at 100 mg seems to be a standard dose to improve your focus and attention span. The third ingredient here is caffeine, which we all know helps wake the mind and body and improve alertness and reaction timing [2].
I think in this area, calling KRE-EX the “best” would be an overstatement especially without the superstars in the nootropic world like Noopept or any of the Piracetams.
Glycolytic Catalyst Fusion
When I first noticed this particular “fusion” of ingredients, I saw that KRE-EX contained 3,725 mg of dextrose aka glucose. This is a simple sugar and is clearly responsible for the carbohydrate content.
It appears this small amount is meant to help keep the muscles full of glycogen and remain anabolic while training in the gym. It’s a monosaccharide which means no digestion is necessary and your muscles get fed. [3]
If I wanted to summarize the ingredients in KRE-EX, I would probably say it’s a mixture of creatine, BCAAs, and a fair amount of mild nootropics. I wouldn’t expect full on beast mode with a product like this, but you’ll definitely get a nice edge.
